Megahalaya Mining Dept to sign MoU with TCIL to plug revenue leakage

Shillong, May 7: The Meghalaya Cabinet on Thursday approved the proposal of the Mining and Geology department to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telecommunications Consultation India Limited (TCIL to plug revenue leakage.

“The intention of the government to sign the MoU is to block the (revenue) leakages in different exit and entry points as far as transportation of minerals in the state and also outside the state is concerned,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said after the cabinet meeting.

He said that the Mining and Geology department will sign an MoU with New Delhi based TCIL for preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and do consultancy activities for installation of computerised check gates in respect of movement or transportation of coal or mineral resources

Tynsong said that the TCIL will prepare a DPR and get back to the government for its final approval.
