Shillong, Apr 9: Commissioner and Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, R. Lyngdoh on Friday felicitated frontline and COVID warriors of East Khasi Hills District during a felicitation programme of frontline workers cum sharing of experiences workshop organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills District, at Shillong Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Lyngdoh congratulated the District Disaster Management Authority of all the 11 districts in the State for the role they have played in the fight against the Covid pandemic.
She also lauded the service rendered by frontline workers who have been working round the clock and leave their personal lives, families and even their own safety for containing the spread of Covid-19 and helping the needy will be remembered for generations to come.
Lyngdoh reminded that as a government employee it is their duties to comfort, provide and deliver their service for the safety of the people of the state.
She also expressed confidence that with the experienced gained during the last one year, the district administration and the state as a whole would be able to handle the second wave systematically.
For prevention from Covid, Lyngdoh also appealed to all the citizens of the State to strictly follow the health protocols like wearing a mask, wash hand frequently, use sanitiser and maintain social distance at all.
As part of the programme, officers in charge of various cell shared their experienced face by them and their teams during the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
Other highlights of the programme, includes distribution of appreciation certificates by the Commissioner and Secretary to officers and staffs of the district performing their COVID duties at various capacity, release of a documentary highlighting on COVID-19 management in East Khasi Hills district and a Coffee Table Book – “Taming the Panic†highlighting the efforts made by the district administration in fighting against COVID-19.
