Teachers withdraw agitation

Shillong, June 03: School teachers in Meghalaya have decided to withdraw their proposed agitations scheduled to be organized on Monday and Tuesday.

Earlier they planned to hold the agitation to pressurise the state government to implement the pay revision, by wearing black arm band on Monday and Tuesday.

But Khasi Jaiñtia Deficit School Teachers’ Association president, E.D. Nongsiang said that the agitation has been suspended after receiving a letter on Friday from the education department that the extension of the pay revision under the Meghalaya fifth pay commission to the deficit school teachers in the state has been approved, and the cabinet approval is awaited, and will be held shortly.

Nongsiang thanked the government for taking the decision while announcing that the proposed agitation has been withdrawn.
