NPP to support UDP candidate, Balajied Synrem for Shellabypoll

Shillong Sept 24: The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has decided not contest the upcoming bye election to Shella Assembly constituency, but it will support its partner, the United Democratic Party (UDP) and its candidate, Balajied Synrem.

Synrem is the son of sitting Shella MLA, late Donkupar Roy who passed away on July 28.

In a statement issued on Tuesday night, NPP state president, Dr WR Kharlukhi said that the NPP Meghalaya State Unit during the State Executive meeting has decided not to put up any candidate for the upcoming bye election.

“The NPP Meghalaya State Unit will support the candidature of Balajied Synrem from the UDP,” the statement said.
