COVID 19 UPDATES: Meghalaya records 421 new positive cases, 341 recovers

‘Covid-19 cases in the state could be upto 25 times the numbers recorded’

Shillong, June 22: Meghalaya on Tuesday registered 421 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the tally of active cases to 4,273, the health department said in a bulletin.

Meanwhile, the state also records 341 new recovered cases in last 24 hours, with this the total recovered cases reaches 40,915.

03 more succumbs to the infections in last 24 hours, taking total number of fatalities from COVID-19 infection to 788 so far.

Meanwhile, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the 1159 Covid-19 beds available in the state 368 are occupied and 791 are vacant.

Dr. War informed that in Civil Hospital Shillong, of the 115 Covid-19 beds 45 are occupied, in Ganesh Das Hospital, of the 42 beds 13 are occupied, in Reid Provincial Chest Hospital of the 31 beds eight are occupied and in MIMHANS, Shillong all 44 beds are occupied.

In the private – owned Bethany Hospital, Shillong of the 58 beds 28 are occupied, in Nazareth Hospital Shillong of the 90 beds 34 are occupied in Robert’s Hospital Shillong of the 56 beds 23 are occupied and in Super care Hospital, of the 83 beds 18 are occupied.

In others districts of the state – like West Khasi Hills in Civil Hospital Nongstoin of the 12 beds available three are occupied, in Civil Hospital, Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi district of the 18 three are occupied, in MCH Hospital Jowai of the 60 beds nine are occupied.

Moreover, in Civil Hospital Tura, West Garo Hills of the 54 beds 22 are occupied.

The Director of Health Services informed that on Tuesday 12,075 persons were vaccinated.

Dr. War also informed that so far 6,16,537 citizens of the state have been vaccinated – 5,41,147 (first dose) and 75,390 (second dose).
