Meghalaya records one more COVID-19 death, 25 new cases

Shillong, Nov 27: The State on Friday registered 52 new COVID-19 cases taking the number of active cases up to 917, while 82 more recovered from the viral infection putting the number of recovered patients to 10, 606.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the new COVID-19 cases detected today included 34 from East Khasi Hills district, 10 from West Garo Hills district, five from South West Garo Hills district, two from East Garo Hills district and one from Ri-Bhoi district.

East Khasi Hills, is the most affected district in the State with 454 active Covid-19 cases, followed by West Garo Hills with 254 positive cases.

Dr. War said the new recoveries registered from the viral disease included 46 from East Khasi Hills district, 14 from West Garo Hills district , seven each from East Garo Hills district and East Jaintia Hills district, five from South West Garo Hills district and one each from North Garo Hills district, Ri-Bhoi district and South Garo Hills district.

The Director of Health Services informed that of the 2,37,388 persons tested in the State for COVID-19 till Friday afternoon, 2,25,755 samples yielded negative results, even as 320 persons are in institutional quarantine and 436 in home isolation.

As on Friday, 63,763 people from outside entered the State, which had 34 containment zones.

So far, Meghalaya has registered 11633 COVID-19 cases, including 110 deaths, 917 active cases and 10,606 recoveries.

The case fatality rate in the state stands at 0.94.
