COVID-19: Meghalaya records 2 new deaths, 159 fresh infections

Meghalaya records two more Covid fatalities

Shillong, Apr 28: The state on Wednesday recorded two more COVID-19 related deaths, 159 new infections and 138 recovered from the virus.

With this, the total number of fatalities has gone upto 167, total active cases is 1475 and the total number of recovered cases is 14788.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the two deaths reported were that of Uginia Rymbai 52-year-old female from Saser, Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi district and Sunita Limbu 54-year-old female of Jhalupara, Shillong, East Khasi Hills district.

Of the 159 new cases – East Khasi Hills recorded 116, West Khasi Hills 13, Ri-Bhoi 12, West Garo Hills nine, South Garo Hills four, East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills two each and South West Garo Hills one.

East Khasi Hills district has the highest number of active cases with 1061, Ri-Bhoi 147, West Jaintia Hills 84, East Jaintia Hills 63, West Garo Hills 60, West Khasi Hills 28, South West Khasi Hills 14, South Garo Hills seven, East Garo Hills five, South West Garo Hills four and North Garo Hills two.

The Director of Health Services also informed that the total person vaccinated till Wednesday is 1,54,281.

Dr. War also informed that the total persons tested till date is 4,56,470 out of which 4,40,040 were negative and 16430 are confirmed cases.
