Two arrested youths remanded to seven and 12 days police custody

Shillong, Apr 24: The two youths who were arrested on April 23 for their alleged involvement in the Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh killings were produced before the District and Sessions Court on Wednesday.

Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, Superintendent of Police (City) informed that Cleenstar Shabong (27) of Nongthymmai, Pohktieh, Lane-5, Shillong was arrested in connection with the killing of Sobir Dutta in Ichamati on March 27.

Shabong has been remanded to seven days of police custody.

“Apart from this case, he is involved in 10 more criminal cases, out of which a charge sheet has been submitted against him in one case,” Rasgania said.

The SP (City) said that investigation is being done to identify and arrest the other accused persons in the case.

Earlier police had arrested two youths – Shambor Shati (26) from Wah Utim and Meshadapbor Skhembill from Saitsohpen, Sohra in connection with the twin-murder case at Ichamati.

Meanwhile, Gary Rinaldy Mawlieh (25) of Mawlai Mawroh Kseh who was arrested in connection with the killing of a daily wage labourer Arjun Ray in Mawroh on April 10 has been remanded to 12 days of police custody.

According to Rasgania apart from this case, Mawlieh is involved in three more criminal cases, out of which charge sheets have been submitted against him in two cases.

He also informed that the investigation is being done to identify and arrest the other accused persons in the case.
