Shillong, Oct 2: The Meghalaya Cricket Association has named a 15-member squad and four standbys for the BCCI’s Vinoo Mankad Trophy, a one day tournament for U-19 boys, which will begin later this month.
The players selected are some of the best to have emerged from the recently-concluded MCA U-19 Boys’ Inter District Tournament where they were able to demonstrate their ability and temperament in front of the selectors.
Meghalaya will play five group games, all in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, where they will face big name cricket teams Bengal, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad, Delhi and Maharashtra.
A preparatory camp will begin tomorrow at Jagiroad in Assam. This will conclude on 8 October and the team will then depart for the tournament the following day, while the standbys return to their respective districts.
