Shillong, Aug 13: Agriculture Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh on Thursday distributed pepper saplings to farmers of Nongjrong and Nohron area under Mawkynrew Constituency.
Hundreds of farmers received the seedlings from the minister who is also the MLA of Mawkynrew constituency.
The minister distributed around 4000 seedlings to the farmers. The area is suitable for cultivation of pepper apart from other crops.
The farmers thanked the MLA for bringing the seedlings which is a benefit for them.
Chairman of Mawkynrew C&RD Block, T Pohshna, and headman of Nohron, beneficiaries and other representatives were present.
Lyngdoh said that as a representative of the area, he wanted to uplift the livelihood of the farmers besides bringing other developmental activities for the interest of the people.
Lyngdoh hoped that the seedlings would benefit the farmers of the area.
