BJP government will make Meghalaya ‘model state’ within five years, says Amit Shah

Shillong, Feb 16: BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday accused the Congress government of doing scams after scams in the state and urged the people of Meghalaya to vote for the BJP in order to make Meghalaya a “model state.”

Addressing an election rally at Malki ground here, Shah asked, “Do you want the most corrupt Government of the country or do you want a Government whose only aim is development under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.”

Attacking the Congress-led government under the leadership of chief minister Mukul Sangma, the BJP chief said that within these 10 years, many BJP ruled states in the country have reached different heights in terms of development.

But in Meghalaya, he said, the budget for education was Rs 900 crore but the state government could not even spent 70 per cent of it.

Alleging that there has been scam after scam like mining, recruitment of teachers, police, PHED, Shah said the state Government has created records in scams and the number of young boys and girls who committed suicide that has gone up by 45 percent.

In terms of crime against women, security against women , Shah said that there has been a 30 per cent rise.

Even the PDS is a victim of corruption, sugar and other things are going throughout the state due to this corrupt practice, he alleged.

He also said that to make North East more developed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working day and night.

Stating that acceptance of the BJP in the region has increased day by day, Shah said that because of these developmental works, the BJP formed government in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and in Manipur.

“The party is in the direction to form government in Nagaland and Tripura,” Shah said while appealing to the people to remove the “most corrupt” government which has been ruling for 10 years.

“We need to throw out this government, so that we can bring a BJP government where Modi’s vision can be implemented,” he said.
