Armed men loot cash from petrol pump in Byrnihat

Shillong, Jan 8: A petrol pump in Ri-Bhoi district was robbed by armed miscreants on Friday evening, authorities informed.

The incident occurred at around 5:38 pm at Highway Carrier Refilling Centre owned by Paul Keishing Nongrum and C. L. Sethia located at 14 Mile, Byrnihat along the National Highway when two masked men carrying an AK-47 and a small arm looted Rs. 2.5 lakh from the petrol pump.

According to the employees of the petrol pump, these men had come in a black and red pulsar bike forcibly entered the room where the cash was kept and took away Rs 2 lakh at gunpoint. However due to the low quality CCTV the registration number of the bike could not be captured.

The miscreants also took Rs. 50, 000 from another employee of the petrol pump who was about to enter the place.

After this the manager of the petrol pump informed Byrnihat Outpost who immediately rushed to the site.

The whole incident was captured in the CCTV which was installed inside the office of the petrol pump.

Investigation into the matter is going on.
