Shillong, July 5: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will convene a meeting with public representatives, village dorbars and NGOs to discuss the issue related to setting up of office of the newly created Mawlai Community and Rural Development Block on Thursday.
Informing this here, East Khasi Hills District Deputy Commissioner, P.S. Dkhar said that official communication have been sent to the MLA, MDC and representatives of the dorbar shnongs falling under the Mawlai C&RD Block besides the NGOs.
The meeting, which will be held at the Main Secretariat at 1 pm, to discuss on the issue pertaining to location, suitable for setting up of the Block office.
Meanwhile, three NGOs – HYC, HNYF and FKJGP – have decided to hold series of public meetings from July 8, to garner public support and pressurize the state government to speed up the process of setting up of the block office at Mawlai.
The meeting will be held at Mawlai Mawtawar on July 8 , Mawlai Mawiong on July 10 , Mawlai petrol pump on July 13, and Mawlai Bus stop on July 15, in which a resolution will be also adopted.
According to leaders, despite announcing in the Budget speech last year, yet nothing has been done about opening of the Mawlai C&RD block till date.
Earlier, the village dorbar of Mawlai Mawtawar had already given a land measuring 3 acres at Mawlai Mawtawar for setting up of Mawlai C&RD Block.
