Shillong, Aug 19: The state government on Thursday has allowed the reopening of cinema halls across the state from August 23.
Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that only one – third capacity of the hall is allowed.
Apart from this the government has also allowed the re-start of all sports activities and jackpot parlours from August 23. Earlier, only non contact sports were allowed.
Tynsong also informed the government has decided to reopen public parks all over the state including the Lady Hydari Park, Ward’s Lake and Elephant Falls.
Tynsong informed that only those above 18 years and those vaccinated will be allowed to participate in the sport activities, visit the cinema halls or go to the public places.
Also one-third of private vehicles will be allowed to ply on the road from August 23.
The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that till date 49 percent of the eligible population has been vaccinated even as he informed that vaccine hesitancy is beginning to subside and people are now willingly coming to take the jab.
