Shillong, April 22: Over 700 kgs of cannabis (ganja) was on Friday seized from a truck at a village along the Shillong By-Pass.
Officials of the Customs Headquarter Preventive, Shillong informed that the truck bearing Tripura registration number was intercepted at Diengpasoh village while it was on its way to Siliguri.
According to them, the seizure value of the drugs is approximately Rs 36 lakhs in the black market.
As per preliminary investigation, the officials further informed that the ganja was loaded in Tripura and was on its way to Siliguri.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck was arrested and a case was registered under the NDPS Act, 1985.
