On July 3, the State government has notified the creation of Chiading police station in East Garo Hills district which will cover 79 villages including Samanda block headquarter in East Garo Hills which were earlier under the jurisdiction of Songsak and Williamnagar Police Stations.

“The new police stations and police outposts are being created to ensure that the fruits of development reach every nook and corner of the State,” Sangma said.
The Chief Minister assured the people of the area that they can expect more development to follow since they already have a police station.
Stating that policing goes beyond running after criminals, and should facilitate good governance, the Chief Minister hoped that the new police station would reach out to the people and sensitize them about law and order and governance.
Earlier, DGP, SB Singh in his address highlighted how the department with the cooperation of the people of East Garo Hills has been able to contain militancy to some extent.
“There are some pockets in the region that still continue to be the stronghold of militants,” the DGP said while expressing hope that with creation of more police stations and cooperation of the people, they would be able to put militancy to an end.
Deputy Commissioner H.B.Marak read out the government notification related to the creation of Chiading Police Station and handed it over to an Officer in charge of the new police station.
